This program is designed to bring world leaders, senior, high-level, strategic thinkers, from academia or industry to Deakin University for a 30-60 day period. Thinkers/Industry Experts in Residence (TIERs) are leaders in academia/industry who bring a broad understanding of their field or industry sector.

Celebrate Excellence at Deakin: Vice-Chancellor’s Awards Nominations close Mon 18 August 2025
Applications for the 2025 Deakin University Vice-Chancellor’s Awards are now open and close at midnight on Monday 18 August — and we want you to be part of it.
This annual celebration is one of Deakin’s most meaningful traditions — a chance to spotlight the people and initiatives that go above and beyond in shaping our University’s future. Whether it’s outstanding teaching, bold research, transformative community work, or impactful leadership, the Vice-Chancellor’s Awards are about recognising excellence wherever it happens.
Your nomination could be the one that brings someone’s important contribution into the spotlight.
This year’s award categories cover a broad range of contributions aligned to Deakin 2030: Ideas to Impact, our strategic vision for creating lasting, meaningful change.

Take your research further with the Trek Program – registrations close Mon 25 August 2025
Are you ready to strengthen your industry connections and amplify the impact of your research?
Applications are now open for the Trek Program – an eight-week development experience for researchers passionate about collaboration and achieving impactful outcomes.
Delivered by Cruxes Innovation and supported by the Researcher Development Academy and the Recycling and Clean Energy Commercialisation Hub (REACH), Trek will help you to:
- Develop collaboration strategies to engage partners and solve societal challenges
- Learn structured validation and commercialisation methods
- Refine your impact vision through expert coaching to enhance funding applications and research proposals
- Create an action plan to engage high-potential partners and expand your research network.

Trek carves out time for the often-over-looked task of industry planning and engagement – and supports you to get it done with expert guidance at every step.

- Fortnightly online sessions: Wednesdays, 10 September – 22 October, 9:30 am – 12 pm
- Learning Showcase: Wednesday 5 November, 9:30 am – 12 pm, in person at Deakin Burwood Corporate Centre.

Help us learn more about Long COVID
We are studying how Long COVID affects sensory processing (e.g., sight, sound, touch) and daily activities compared to those without Long COVID. We are looking for Australian adults aged 18 years and over with Long COVID (symptoms for 3+ months after COVID infection) AND without Long COVID (fully recovered from COVID or never had COVID).
What’s Involved?
- 30-40 minute anonymous survey (online, telephone or by post)
- Answering questions about sensory experiences, daily activities, and your health
- You can pause the questionnaire – you do not need to complete it in one go.
All participants can enter a draw for one of 10 $100 EFTPOS cards.

FOH Partnership in Practice – Research Impact Awards applications open 13 October 2025
The Faculty of Health holds an annual ‘Partnerships in Practice’ awards night, celebrating our Faculty research partnerships. Each year the Faculty awards prizes for research partnerships that have delivered the greatest impact, across various categories, including:
- Early-career researcher/s
- Mid-career researcher/s
- Regional and Rural research
- Informing policy and/or practice
- Health Service partnerships research
- Commercial partnerships research
- International partnership research
Category winners receive $1000 in internal funding (including travel), while an overall winner receives $5000 in internal research funding. Read more
