Dear Colleagues,

It was wonderful to see so many of our people attend the All Members Day last week. The strong turnout is testament to our shared commitment to translating research into impact, with the focus on policy influence and political engagement. Thank you to all our wonderful speakers: Amy Brown, Rebecca Haddock, Adyya Gupta, Hannah Jongebloed, Mark Duckworth, Phil Dawson, Peter Breadon, Jaithri Ananthapavan and Kathryn Backholer.

A special mention goes to the final session of the day, chaired by Professor Samantha Thomas, which focused on advocacy in gambling reform. Anna Bardsley and Caroline Crawford from Gambling Harm Lived Experience Experts, shared deeply moving personal stories that powerfully illustrated the importance of centring lived experience in our work. Their contributions were a compelling reminder of why collaboration with those directly affected is essential to meaningful reform.

Please make sure you explore the Institute’s new Influencing policy and practice resources on the members portal.

All the presentations from the day are available on the members portal. A full report of the day can be found in the recent events section of the newsletter.

I’m looking forward to sharing the 2024 Impact Report with you when it is launched shortly.

A warm welcome to our latest IHT members:
