Dear Colleagues,

It is still a surprise to me that this is our last newsletter of the year!  It was great to catchup with so many of you at our final All Members Day for the year. We had our largest attendance (ever) and I hope you found our keynote speaker, Professor Helena Teede from the Monash Centre for Health Research & Implementation insightful and inspiring. Her presentation, as well as all presentations for the day, are available for download from the Members Portal.

Well done to everyone who presented at the inaugural Faculty of Health Cross-Institute Showcase 2024. I was delighted that four of the six awards for presentation categories went to our Institute researchers.

Congratulations also to our many winners of prestigious awards over the past two months, including Dr Eric Lau for being named in the top 0.1% of the world’s scientists, to Ben Wood named as one of 8 rising stars in The Australian’s 2025 Research Magazine, to Prof Hanny Calache honoured with a highly commended at Research Australia Awards and to the Economic of Cancer stream who were awarded a highly commended and were finalists at the recent Engagement Australia 2024 Excellence Awards. A full list of award winners can be found in the Highlights.

Congratulations to all our EMCR Award winners and to the inaugural Institute Impact Award winner. I would like to thank everyone who took the time to apply and congratulate all applicants for your impressive work over the last three years – the calibre of all applicants was extremely high. Congratulations also to all our VC Award winners and all those who received promotions in the last round.

Finally, I would like to draw your attention to the All Members Survey sent out on Monday. We have made it a short 5-8 minutes to complete and your valued input will feed directly into our planning over the next 12 months.

Thanks to all our members, Advisory Group, partners and funders for a very impactful year. I wish you all a safe and festive holiday season and look forward to seeing you all refreshed in 2025.

A warm welcome to our latest IHT members
