Baker-Deakin Department of Lifestyle and Diabetes Seed Funding applications close 7 October 2024
The Baker-Deakin Department of Lifestyle and Diabetes is seeking to allocate seed funds to support the development of a new grant proposal. The expectation is that as a consequence of this seeding funding, a grant or fellowship will be lodged to an external funding agency in 2025/2026 application rounds.
Projects must be related to lifestyle and diabetes and must be led by a fixed term or continuing employee at either the Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute or one of Deakin University’s Faculty of Health’s Research Institutes. Funding is not available for PhD students or PhD projects. Note: For this 2024 round, priority will be given to those projects that specifically target the role of sedentary behaviour, physical activity and/or healthy eating in the prevention and management of type 2 diabetes.
Funds can be used to gather pilot data, demonstrate feasibility of the project, etc. If warranted, funding of up to $25,000/application will be considered, however most projects are likely to be funded at $10,000 or less.
Applications are due by COB Monday 7 October. The expectation is that staff will be notified of outcomes by the end of October. To apply, please complete the Qualtrics survey via this link.
