Global health and well-being are in crisis, and no single country is equipped to address this alone. Health and healthcare systems face numerous challenges, with many more anticipated. These challenges transcend national boundaries, demanding unprecedented levels of collaboration, sharing, agility, new skills, and expanded networks.

Effective leadership in healthcare fosters a culture of accountability, innovation, and collaboration, enhancing patient care and safety. Emerging health leaders must contribute meaningfully and bring fresh perspectives to the table. In the 2024 John Deeble Lecture, Prof Jonathon Gray (Dragon’s Heart Institute, UK) will reflect on his leadership journey and the strength of leadership in times of crisis.

2024 Embedding Indigenous Knowledges and Perspectives Symposium, 7 November 2024

Following on from the success of last year’s symposium, the Office of Indigenous Strategy and Innovation is excited to again host the 2024 Embedding Indigenous Knowledges and Perspectives Symposium at Deakin Downtown on Thursday 7 November.

This year, we will draw the 2024 NAIDOC theme of ‘Keep the Fire Burning’ into focality and frame the Symposium as ‘Storying Transformation: Sparks and Guiding Flames’. This very much reflects a Deakin community walking together and sharing this work.

We encourage you to bring a whole-of-self to explore and immerse in our storying of curriculum transformation, learning and celebrating sparks and flames in keeping fires burning.

To register for the Symposium visit Eventbrite.

Logistic Regression 5 Day Masterclass tickets early bird registrations close 30 November 2024

Deakin Epidemiology is pleased to offer a summer Masterclass focused on Logistic regression to be delivered by arguably the world’s most famous teacher of this statistical technique – Prof. Stanley Lemeshow.

In years past, Lemeshow together with Ken Rothman offered back-to-back masterclasses in Biostats and Epi in Tasmania which were a bit of an institution, with many epidemiologists and biostatisticians building their knowledge and networks by heading south for a healthy dose of upskilling or as a refresher. Stan has agreed to offer this program onshore once again in Australia, this time at Deakin University’s Melbourne CBD campus 727 Collins Street, Docklands VIC 3008.

This 5-day course, 24-28 Feb 2025, will provide theoretical and hands-on practical knowledge and skills in statistical modelling with an in-depth focus on logistic regression analysis – the standard method for regression analysis of binary, multinomial and ordinal response data in health research.

Each day comprises a 4-hr class in the morning and a 2-hr practical session in the afternoon. And opportunities to network with fellow health and medical practitioners and researchers.
