Dear Colleagues,
Spring is definitely the season of academic dress! A big congratulations to all those who have been awarded the prestigious title of Deakin Distinguished Professor. You can see the full list of Institute members who received this accolade below- this is an important marker of recognition of those who have contributed deeply to Deakin. Congratulations also to our latest graduates, I hope you have all celebrated this major milestone in your career journeys.
Congratulations to Dr Mike Forrester and the team, in partnership with Asthma Australia, on the successful launch of The National Sustainable Asthma Care Roadmap. Launched earlier this month by the Hon Ged Kearney, Assistant Minister for Health and Aged Care, the report aims to improve the lives of people living with asthma, while at the same time reducing greenhouse gas emissions from respiratory inhalers.
I have been reflecting a lot on what makes the Institute such a rewarding place to work. I have concluded that it is rare to be surrounded by so many who have such a clear and strong focus on making the world better for others and I wanted to shout out to you all for your ongoing focus in our ever changing world. We have recently released our 2023 Impact Report and I hope you enjoy the brief summary of some of our impact highlights. This month we will be launching our 2024 EMCR Awards, to recognise the research excellence, impact and partnerships of our emerging research leaders and launching our inaugural Impact Award.
A warm welcome to our latest IHT members
