Acknowledgement of Country

We pay our deep respect to the Ancestors and Elders of Wadawurrung, Eastern Maar, and Wurundjeri Country, where our physical campuses are located. We extend this respect to all First Nations people across the unceded lands of Australia.

Welcome

It’s always a pleasure to welcome you to our newsletter and share the incredible work being done by the Deakin Health Economics team. This edition is a special showcase of our early and mid-career researchers, who are making significant contributions to the field.

Supporting Research Excellence

We are fortunate to have a supportive environment at DHE that fosters research excellence. This newsletter highlights the research activities of our most recent Postdoctoral Research Fellows, funded either fully or partially by the University. We are also committed to supporting pathways into research through our PhD and student internship programs. Congratulations to Ishani Majmudar on the submission of her PhD thesis, and then securing a fixed-term research role within DHE.

Building Capacity in Health Economics

Our commitment to building capacity in health economics through our teaching and research programs ensures we can continue to make a significant impact both locally and globally.

Our Research

Our research is multifaceted, encompassing a wide range of health topics across the life course. This newsletter features examples of research focused on healthy development, disease prevention, and the optimization of healthcare systems. Our collaborations with patients, consumers, clinicians, health professionals, and the broader community ensure that our research is relevant, accessible, and impactful. Ann Livingstone’s article on Traumatic Brain Injury provides a personal perspective on how life events can shape and inspire a passion for a particular research area.
