Our partnerships with health, government, community and industry allow us to deliver research with impact: improving health and wellbeing, patient experience and care, and sustainability of our health system.
IHT is home to one of Australia’s largest health economics teams undertaking work that spans prevention and treatment across the community and health sectors to ensure efficient allocation of health resources.
Our Centre for Quality and Patient Safety (QPS) focuses on patient experience, patient safety, and workforce development to promote health and aged care safety and quality. The centre’s research streams of patient safety, patient experience, and health workforce span the whole patient journey, and encompass residential, community, subacute and acute care settings.

GLOBE was formed to catalyse improvements in population health, with a focus on obesity, through innovative research that empowers people and enables healthier environments.
Our Determinants of Health research brings together long-standing experience across a diverse range of health determinants (social, environmental, commercial and political) that are outside health systems but have a significant impact on overall health and well-being.
The Australian Centre for Behavioural Research in Diabetes (ACBRD) at IHT is the first national research centre dedicated to investigating the behavioural, psychological and social aspects of people living with diabetes.
