Opportunities to join IHT’s Committee and Working Groups.

In response to our All Members’ Survey, we would like to extend an invitation to members who may be interested in joining one of the IHT’s Committees: the Research Committee, the Diversity and Inclusion Committee, and the EMCR Committee.

We also have a number of Working Groups in the early stages of development: Digital Health Working Group, Systems Science Working Group, a Local Government Working Group and a very recently established Co-design Working Group. We try to create as much diversity as possible in the groups so that researchers from all domains and career stages have a voice.  If you have another idea for a working group where you want to bring together a range of researchers with similar interests, then don’t hesitate to talk to Kate about support to move that forward.

Visit the Members’ Portal for more information or contact Kate Morrissy (k.morrissy@deakin.edu.au).

Open Access Publication Funding

IHT is pleased to continue to provide funding support for open access publications this year. Up to $3,500 is available for IHT members and HSD and SoNM academic staff. Updated guidelines and a link to the new online application form can be found on the IHT Members’ Portal or via your school’s SharePoint site.

A reminder to please check the list of journals covered by the Read and Publish Agreements for a suitable journal in the first instance, as these agreements allow Deakin authors to publish open access free of charge, or for a reduced fee.

Opportunities to join IHT

Professional Development Service Role (voluntary)

IHT are seeking expressions of interest for anyone interested in assisting IHT with organisation of IHT’s Professional Development Program in a Service Role.  This involves assisting IHT with 2-3 Professional Development Workshops/Seminars that have application to the whole membership.

This is a great opportunity to extend your skill base and experience and learn from working with Senior academics and members of the operational team.

View the PD on the Members’ Portal.

Please contact K.Morrissy@deakin.edu.au to express your interest in this opportunity.

Part time (.2) Research Support Officer (renumerated)

IHT are seeking temporary assistance within our Program of Research Support from mid- April 2023 to mid-August.

The position will predominantly provide administrative support to the Lead, Research Funding and Performance (Merran Stewart) during these months. While prior experience with research support processes is desirable, it is not essential and general administration skills will be sufficient to undertake the requirements of the role.  This is a great opportunity for a member of the broader IHT population to learn more about research support and extend your skill base and experience.  It would suit an existing administration officer or PhD student who is able to increase their hours temporarily.  The position will be renumerated at HEW 6 (7.35 hours a week).

Please contact K.Morrissy@deakin.edu.au to express your interest in this opportunity.

Calling all PhD students

Would you like to showcase your work across the IHT Membership and increase your profile and awareness of your important research?
2023 will see many opportunities for IHT PhD students to showcase their work, such as at All Members’ Days, a dedicated symposium, or an article in the IHT website or newsletter.

We are interested in the question your PhD is trying to answer (research question), how you are seeking to answer it (methodology), progress and learnings to date, what impact you are hoping to have.

Please get in touch with Brydie Nielson to express your interest.
