PhD Opportunity – Breathe Melbourne’s Citizen Science Project

Rebecca Patrick is promoting a PhD opportunity to join Breathe Melbourne, which comes with a full PhD stipend. Breathe Melbourne is a sister study of the world-famous Breathe London Study.

The role would suit someone with a strong interest in child health and wellbeing, climate justice, epidemiology and public health, policy change and translation. The project involves working within a Government and Industry partnership to empower children as citizen scientists to learn about air pollution through science and act on it, whilst also collecting valuable information for their community in Melbourne’s Inner West.

We are keen to fill this position as soon as possible with a start date required by mid-July 2022. This means we need someone within Australia with the relevant visas. The exact PhD topic and methodology is up for discussion with the right person, but it would likely focus on the co-benefits of a citizen program within schools.

The right person will be passionate about the topic and have an excellent academic record (H1 average). Please share with your colleagues who may be interested.

If this project is of interest to you, please get in contact with us at Breathe Melbourne (breathemelb@deakin.edu.au) or contact Dr Kate Lycett (k.lycett@dekain.edu.au) by Friday 3 June.

Please include the following in your email:

– 2-3 sentences about yourself and why you are interested in the project

– Your academic transcript from your most recent degree

We look forward to hearing from you!
