Dr Louisa Smith has received a $75,000 grant from the Dementia Australia Research Foundation for her Rainbow Connections project. The project will see project volunteers of the national Community Visitors Scheme, LGBT+ people with dementia and other stakeholders co-design resources to assist volunteers in connecting and engaging with socially isolated LGBT+ people with dementia.
Professor Bodil Rasmussen has been awarded a Diabetes Australia Research Program grant. Bodil will refine and test a novel screening tool derived from the Postnatal Wellbeing Transition Questionnaire to explore psychosocial wellbeing among new mothers with type 1 or type 2 diabetes.
Dr Karen Wynter (QPS) together with Dr Jacqui Macdonald (Psychology) were awarded $25,000 by Relationships Australia Victoria (RAV), to evaluate their Support for Fathers initiative. Dr Vanessa Watkins (QPS) is assisting with the evaluation.
Dr Maryann Street, Professor Julie Considine, and other Deakin and Eastern Health collaborators have been awarded the Eastern Health Foundation: Greek Orthodox Community of Box Hill Research and Innovation Grant for $18,000 for a project titled Evaluating the efficacy of a digital App to enhance patient-centred nursing handover which will evaluate the efficacy of the digital app in simulated nursing handovers, with two experienced nurses and 20 patient volunteers.
Professor Julie Considine, Debra Berry, and Eastern Health collaborators have been awarded an Eastern Health Foundation: Eastern Health Foundation Research and Innovation Grant for $17,000 for a project titled Clinical deterioration in Hospital in the Home patients.
Rebecca Jedwab has received a PhD grant from the Victorian Nurses and Midwives Trust ($10,000).
