NHMRC Ideas Grants
Congratulations to Professor Anna Peeters, Professor Steve Allender, Professor Sharon Brennan Olsen, Dr Lan Gao and Kieva Richards who will work on a NHRMC Ideas Grant led by Professor Rachel Huxley, Executive Dean Faculty of Health. Steve is also an AI on an ANU-led IDEAS Grant, Evaluating Systems Change for Health Equity: A Case Study of Australia’s COVID-19 Policy Response.

MRFF RART Grant
Professor Anna Peeters is leading a $9M Western Alliance MRFF Rapid Applied Research Translation grant to deliver enhanced healthcare at home for older people in Western Victoria. Other Chief Investigators from IHT include Professor Steve Allender, Professor Bodil Rasmussen, A/Prof Martin Hensher, A/Prof Kevin McNamara, Dr Anna Ugalde and Dr Laura Alston.

More new funding

  • Dr Jennifer Browne received a Deakin Science and Society Network Interdisciplinary Incubator grant for a 12-month project, Understanding the determinants of health: an Indigenous systems science approach. The project is a collaboration between Indigenous and non-Indigenous researchers from IHT, ADI, NIKERI, IISRI and the Sax Institute.
  • A/Prof Kathryn Backholer is part of a UK-led research grant to monitor kids digital exposure to unhealthy food marketing in the UK before online food marketing legislation is introduced. She is also part of retail marketing project with UNICEF Turkey to survey food retailers and online food delivery applications across the region and develop an advocacy and partnerships strategy to reduce the hazards of marketing unhealthy foods to children.
  • Dr Long Le was awarded one of five finalist grants in the 2021 Bupa Foundation Emerging Health Researcher Awards.
  • Prof Judy Currey is working on the Independent Medical Examiner QAP redesign: New Evidence-Based Quality Tool Development with Dr Huw Flatau Harrison from Faculty of Business and Law.
