GLOBE submitted the following recommendations on the Draft Health Star Rating (HSR) Calculator and Style Guide:
- Fresh fruits and vegetables, including unpackaged, should explicitly be included in the definition to receive an automatic 5-star rating
- Amend the layout for the definition ‘2a Products that must not use the Health Star Rating System’
- Clarify products intended to use the HSR system with nutrient composition that varies
- Recommend consistent application of HSR to all products across a food company’s product range
- Include additional categories in the HSR calculator list for categories with an automatic rating
- Clarify the treatment of canned fruit in juice in the definition of minimally processed fruit
- Refine the definition for calculation of fvnl points
- Clarify the use of the HSR graphics, preferencing the use of the HSR icon on its own
- Establish a minimum size for HSR graphics
